کتاب Essential Words for the IELTS شامل 600 واژه است که به صورت مکرر در آزمون آیلتس آمده اند. این 600 لغت در 10 درس گنجانده شده است که هر درس براساس یک موضوع است.
این 10 موضوع به ترتیب عبارتند از طبیعت، اوقات فراغت، حمل و نقل، فرهنگ، سلامتی، جهانگردی، کسب و کار، اجتماع، آموزش و فناوری/اختراعات.
در هر درس پس از استفاده لغات در یک متن آنها در تمرینات زیادی بکار برده می شوند که همانند سوالات واقعی آزمون آیلتس (IELTS) می باشند. پاسخ کلیه تمرینات نیز در انتهای کتاب ارائه شده است.
