اسم در نقش صفت

وقتی اسامی به عنوان صفت استفاده می شوند، شکل و حالت جمع و ملکی نمی پذیرند.

استثناها :

اسامی زیر حتی با داشتن s ،زمانیکه به عنوان رشته ی درسی به کار می روند؛ مفرد به حساب می آیند. مانند :

Physics, mathematics, economics.

He is an economics(N) teacher(N).

The current economic(ADj) situation(N) is extremely uncertain
.

در مثال اول economics ، در معنای رشته ی تحصیلی و زمینه ی مطالعاتی و به عنوان اسم و در مثال دوم به عنوان یک صفت بکار رفته است.

Error examples :

A. Wrong : he is taking some histories classes this semester.

Right : he is taking some history classes this semester.

B. Wrong : john turned in his term's paper this morning.

Right : john turned in his term paper this morning.

C. Wrong : my friend is an economic major.

Right : my friend is an economics major.
